Two Fora Health Doctors Named Top in Addiction Medicine by Portland Monthly

We are proud to share that two of our esteemed doctors, Dr. Jennifer Hartley and Dr. Eowyn Rieke, were recognized earlier this month as Top Doctors in Addiction Medicine in Portland Monthly’s 20th annual list of the metro area’s top medical providers, as chosen by their peers!

Each year, Portland Monthly asks local medical providers to answer a burning question: who are the people they turn to when their families need care, or when they get sick? The resulting list includes MDs, osteopaths, nurse practitioners, optometrists, licensed acupuncturists, chiropractors, physician assistants, naturopaths, and physical therapists. The Addiction Medicine category recognizes local doctors who specialize in addiction medicine and see patients dealing with substance use issues including opiates, alcohol, and more. Drs. Hartley and Rieke were two of nine doctors recognized in the Addiction Medicine category this year.

Dr. Hartley is the Medical Director for Withdrawal Management, Innovation & Special Projects at Fora Health. In her role, she is responsible for directing Fora’s medically managed withdrawal unit, a 24-bed inpatient acute stabilization program that manages withdrawal from alcohol, opioids, benzodiazepines, and stimulants. Additionally, she works on the development of complementary medical services at Fora, including acupuncture, chiropractic, qigong, yoga, nutrition, and more. Dr. Hartley also leads Fora’s medical learners program that brings trainees, including fellows, residents, and nursing students, to Fora to gain experience in substance use treatment.

Dr. Rieke is the Outpatient Medical Director at Fora Health. With more than two decades of experience in the medical and addiction treatment fields, she is instrumental in the organization’s planned expansion of outpatient services. Dr. Rieke started her career working as a family doctor in Lawrence, Mass., and more recently, served as Associate Medical Director at Central City Concern’s Old Town Clinic, as well as Services Director and Medical Director at their Blackburn Center. Additionally, Dr. Rieke has served as community faculty for Oregon Health & Science University’s (OHSU) addictions medicine fellowship, supporting the training of future generations of expert providers for substance use conditions. Dr. Rieke received her medical degree from Brown University and has dedicated her medical career to caring and advocating for traditionally underserved populations.

“We are immensely proud of Dr. Hartley and Dr. Rieke for being named among Portland Monthly’s Top Doctors in Addiction Medicine,” said our CEO, Devarshi Bajpai. “Their dedication, compassion, and innovation in their work truly embodies the spirit of Fora’s mission to provide treatment, care, and advocacy for all who are affected by substance use disorder. This recognition not only reflects their individual accomplishments but also reaffirms Fora Health’s commitment to delivering exceptional care to those navigating the journey of recovery.”
