Fora Health building a new supportive housing facility

The new facility will be a 20,000-square-foot housing project, in partnership with Multnomah County Oregon Health Authority and other funding partners, designed to support patients transitioning to long-term recovery.

Our CEO, Devarshi Bajpai, said, “This new supportive housing allows us to address both the addiction and housing crises in our community by providing individuals with the secure environment they need after completing treatment. They will also provide a secure environment for individuals in recovery and offer them a comprehensive continuum of care, supporting each patient’s journey. We look forward to helping people in recovery build stronger foundations for their futures and give them the tools they need to reintegrate into the community successfully.”

The new housing facility will be located near our treatment center in Southeast Portland and include 23 rooms and 46 recovery housing beds. It will provide patients completing residential treatment with a secure place to live for four months while they continue to receive outpatient services and access to community resources. Providing patients with a stable housing environment will allow them to find employment, establish savings, and transition into permanent housing solutions. We will offer clinical support, including intensive outpatient therapy, peer specialists, and counselors, ensuring individuals receive the care they need during this critical phase of recovery.

Local partners including Multnomah County, Oregon Health Authority, and other funding partners, have come together to help fund the development of the new housing project. This collaborative effort underscores these organizations’ commitment to addressing the community’s growing need for comprehensive support and resources that help foster long-term recovery and housing stability in the Portland-Metropolitan region.

“Multnomah County is deeply invested in building out our continuum of care for much needed behavioral health services as we address the existing gaps in our system,” said Multnomah County Chair, Jessica Vega Pederson. “This investment is a part of that work that will continue to be a top priority moving forward. We are grateful to partner with Fora Health to fund new recovery housing units with the attached support services required to set people up for success in their new homes.”

Construction on the housing project is scheduled to begin in 2025 and will be completed in 2026.
