Medications for Addiction Treatment (MAT)

Treating Addiction with Medication

We employ a skilled team of medical experts on staff to help patients explore all their treatment options, including the use of medications, commonly known as Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT). As part of our harm reduction model, we prioritize the immediate health and well-being of our patients and we work to remove barriers to treatment. Our care team can find a medication that can reduce cravings and withdrawal symptoms and help your brain function better.

What you should know about medication assisted treatment:

  • All medications we prescribe are approved by the FDA
  • There are a variety of medications available for different substances and for different use histories. Fora Health providers help patients determine which medications are most appropriate for their situation
  • There are medications that help relieve the symptoms of withdrawal and/or reduce cravings for drugs or alcohol
  • Fora Health does not offer methadone, though patients who receive methadone maintenance elsewhere are eligible to engage in our outpatient services
  • Our patients can use medications for short-term treatment of withdrawal symptoms or long-term management to reduce the likelihood of relapse
  • Medications to treat addiction are covered by most insurance providers. On Saturdays we can only accept individuals who have Oregon Health Plan Insurance (OHP).
